ABOUT C O P A S

COPAS was created in 1961 to provide a forum for discussing and solving the more difficult problems related to accounting for oil & gas. These discussions frequently have resulted in the creation of guideline documents and educational materials. You can find these materials in the Products section on the National site.   COPAS has grown to 23 local Societies and over 2700 members in the United States and Canada.  COPAS has a strong emphasis in providing quality educational materials related to oil & gas accounting.

COPAS also sponsors a certification program called the Accredited Petroleum Accountants Program or APA for short. More details on how you can become accredited can be found in the Professional Development section on the National site.
